Pollution and Environment

Instructions for your blog 2.
For this second blog, you will write about a problem we as human beings and the Earth in general is facing due to the global warming or the pollution of the environment.
First, you need to take or find out a picture that represents this problem (you upload the picture where you write your comment)
After that, under the picture you will write a description about this problem. You can talk about aspects like: How is it caused? Which are the causes of this problem? What consequences is this problem bringing to human and wild life? Where is it more common? Is there any solution to eradicate this problem?
The following is an example I am providing you:
Red Tide
The red tides take place as consequence of the explosive increasing of a population of tiny seaweeds. They can be provoked because of polluted water from towns, houses or entire cities that goes into the ocean. Because of this contamination, the red tides produce toxins that get into the bodies of animals such as oysters, fish, shell-fish, lobsters, shrimps and crabs. When people or animals consume them, they can cause many diseases as stomachache and severe diarrheas or even in the most serious cases death in animals as well as human beings that ate them. This problem is very common in many countries where they do not have a project of treatment for polluted or residual water and every year affect the economy fishermen, sailors and customers in general.

  2. Climate change

Climate change is a variation of climate is due to natural and anthropogenic causes. It is caused by atmospheric aerosols, greenhouse gases, deforestation, transportation, industries, they alter the solar energy absorbed or released space.

Some implications of this problem are increased temperature, decreased rainfall, affecting terrestrial ecosystems, increased pests, vegetation loss, death of species and decreased water.

When the water temperature is increased such solid melts in the pole. If this happens, the sea level rises causing your temperature to rise.
This problem is common in the tropics of the southern hemisphere, on the coast, Spain and some European countries, such as floods occur.
Some solutions to this problem are to reduce carbon dioxide, reduce fossil fuel use, reduce and practice sustainable development.

  6. Acid rain
Acid rain is a rain or any other form of precipitation that is unusually acidic. It is form when the humidity in the air combines with the emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen caused by factories, transportation and burning fossil fuels for generating electricity.
This kind of contamination produces the acidification of forests, lakes, rivers, seas, killing wild life as well as causing damage to buildings and having impacts in human healthy. Also the vegetation and crops are affected because it accelerates erosion and remove soil nutrients. Particles in humans in large quantities contribute to heart and lung problems including asthma and bronchitis
Places with significant impact by acid rain around the globe include most of central and eastern Europe, the eastern of the United States, and southeastern Canada. Other affected areas include coast of China and Taiwan.
But there is hope, we can reduce the contamination using technologies that control toxic emissions levels in industrial areas and the countries need to expand electric transportation and find other energy sources.

  7. Forest's devastation

This kind of problem is caused by humans, the people cut all the trees that they can for houses building, also many exotics types of wood has been annihilated to elaborate furniture like beds chairs or tables, the problem is what kind of wood are they using because many of them, are illegal woods from virgin forest.
The reason of the problem is that the people want to build their houses with exotic woods, and also they need a space to live or seed, so they cut more. The trees help purify the air that we breath and also they are the house of many animal and other plant species. The places where is more common the forest devastation are the Amazon and virgin jungles. The solution is in our hands we have to plant more trees from own our area, we don't have to take exotic kinds of plants and carry them to another area. Also before buy furniture we can ask about where is the wood from!

  9. Solid waste

People today generate large quantities of waste, to the extent that it has become a serious environmental problem in most cities in the world and our country. The large amount of waste seems to grow every day and although they have created alternatives to help the environment, it seems that people do not care and continue to pollute. No one knows where to put all that rubbish!

It also happens that there are places where garbage piles up, regardless of which can cause problems both for the environment and health of people living nearby, and we inhale polluted air, as they may appear diseases such as asthma and bronchitis .

One way to help the environment is recycling, and better yet if there are children at home because it is a way to learn to protect the planet. Recycling is an activity that we do to save our world and a way that future generations have a planet to live and enjoy the atmosphere.

  10. Rise of the tide.

The tide rises due to melting glaciers. Some scientists estimate that at least 100 years or Arctic Pole could disappear entirely.
This phenomenon is caused when the Earth rotates and the Arctic pole is fully exposed to the sun's rays, the rays cause the melting of glaciers.

The tides rise due to this phenomenon and this causes some of the people that inhabit the poles first perceive the effects of greenhouse gases.
Using satellite images collected can be seen that the ice disappears about 4% each year.It occurs in areas near the poles.

The species that inhabit glaciers are affected such as penguins, seals and walruses because their habitat is affected by this phenomenon.
The solution is to change the way we think of ourselves, we need to do it since but the glaciers will thaw completely. Stop using CFC aerosol; consume less electricity quantities as electrical appliances harmful gas release CO2 to the atmosphere, which produces holes in the atmosphere.

  11. Air pollution:
This is when different materials or chemicals damage the atmosphere, ways that we pollute the air are with the smoke from the vehicles, toxic gases, and different chemicals.
The air pollution has a lot of bad consequences like the greenhouse effect, damage in the ozone layer, health effects.
This type of contamination is more common in the city because there is where more people has access to transportations, like cars, buses, there are more industries taht with the smoke and chemicals pollute.
To stop this problema we can reduce the use of all the things that pollute like the the hair spray, paint, aerosols sprays, vehicles.

  12. Currently one of the biggest environmental problems is acid rain, this phenomenon occurs when pollutants from the atmosphere as gases from industry and the smoke of the cars are transported by wind and they descend with the rain. This affects the waters of the rivers and forest areas or plantations by taking away the plants essential nutrients and making them more vulnerable to pests, we also affects people because it affects our skin and can lead to other complications. This rain damages the infrastructure or buildings. We try to avoid using natural gas, reducing sulfur levels in fuels, expanding the use of electric transportation system, not add many chemicals to crops.

  13. I investigated the problem of smog and the pollution it produces and I reached the conclusion that smog is the concentration of smoke, dust, gases, and other contaminants that float in the air like suspended debris. Smog is a kind of mist or cloud and tends to alter the natural environmental conditions of the geographical area where it is present.
Smog is produced mainly in cities, in areas with many factories and cars, and usually stays there hovering over the region, especially when the sun is very intense and there is little wind present.
If highly concentrated, smog has a strong unpleasant smell, and of course the concentration of fumes is harmful to our health, causing burning eyes and shortness of breath.
A good way to reduce smog is the use of unleaded petrol and catalytic converters, which lower exhaust fumes and other carbon emissions.

  14. Destruction of the ozone cape.

This cape, is composed for ozono, that envelops the earth and protects of the harmful radiation ultraviolet of the sun.
If this cape disappears, the ultraviolet light of the sun will sterilize the surface of the earth and will annihilate the terrestrial life.
The destruction of the cape, is given to the contribution of human activities. The products with CFC, are the substances that destroy the ozone cape, like: the refrigerators, air conditioners, sprays, foam insulation and insecticides.
The destruction of this cape, let the passage a lot of ultraviolet light to the earth and that cause: skin lesions, cataracts in the eyes, premature aging, skin cancer, immune system damage and in plants the cycles are altered.
This destruction, is more dangerous every time, for decreasing that , is necessary: avoid the use of sprays, avoid the use of air fresheners and use environmental inseticide.

  15. Deforestation
Deforestation is often caused by humans, they destroy the forest area, cut down the trees to sell to the lumber industry and for obtaining land for agriculture and livestock.
If not reforested trees this causes problems in the habitats, reduction of biodiversity and aridity, and has an adverse impact on atmospheric carbon fixation.
Deforestation also leads to frequent erosion in some regions, has also been shown that if plant cover is decreasing rainfall amount to land is reduced and this would cause drought.
Deforestation currently occurs mainly in Latin America, West Africa and in parts of Asia.
Some solutions to this problem are:
    1) Replant trees that are cut.
    2) Place restrictions on forest exploitation.
    3) Not be allowed to cut tress in areas with high biodiversity.

  16. This problem is caused by the pollution of humans, some people are inconsiderate to the environment, they throw away the trash in any place, this trash produce gases and this gases affect the atmosphere. They cause a big problem in animals and humans because the global warming makes a damage in all the planet, some species are disappearing but the human don’t stop this. I think this problem is more common in big countries for example: EE.UU, Mexico, Russia, Spain…. and the industrialized countries. Some solutions can be plant more trees, reduce the cars, use the buses and walk to the job; this thing can save the planet.

  17. Desertification of grounds.

Nowadays is a very worrisome problem and increases every day, this problem affects grounds because these become impoverished due to the sobrepasturing, little irrigation and excess of agriculture. This poblem affects great amount of agriculturists and also to gret part of the humanity because due to this desertification less amount of agricultural products take place and less production for the markets occurs. This problem also affects great part of the humanity because if less agricultural production occurs one occurs to a imbalance between the amount of people and the amount of products. This problem produces a diminution of the natural resources and the increase of area in condition of desert

  18. Deforestation
The deforestation is the indiscriminate cutting of trees .Is a problem caused most of the times for the humans that cut a lot of trees without thinking about the damage they are causing to the planet and sometimes is caused for fires that happen on the forest. The consequences of this problem are that, without trees a lot of animals lose their homes so species are becoming extinct, other animals don´t have food because their food was on the trees , without trees will be less fertile soils, because when the leaves fall from trees help fertilize the soil, and if in a dry area trees are removed this area can turn into a desert. To solve this problem we need to create or participate in campaigns that make us into awareness about trees and the importance these have for the world and also all the benefits they bring. Another solution is to plant trees in our communities with the help of our neighbors to benefit the planet and for our community to look nice for the eyes of others.

  19. Deforestation:
Deforestation is a process usually caused by human action, which destroys the forest area. It is directly caused by the action of man over nature, mainly due to logging or burning by the industry timber and to obtain land for farming and ranching.
Efficiently remove trees without reforestation, results in serious damage to habitat, biodiversity loss and dryness. It has an adverse impact on the fixation of atmospheric carbon (CO2). Deforested regions tend to soil erosion and degrade often unproductive land.
Among the factors that lead to large-scale deforestation include: the neglect and ignorance of the intrinsic value, the lack of value attributed irresponsible management of forestation and weak environmental laws.
In many countries extinction is because of deforestation, changes in climatic conditions, desertification and indigenous movements.

  20. Water Pollution
Water pollution is a major global problem. It has been suggested that it is the leading worldwide cause of deaths and diseases. Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies, for example lakes, rivers, oceans and groundwater. This occurs when pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds and it is usually caused by human activities. For instance, farms often use large amounts of herbicides and pesticides, both of which are toxic pollutants; or the water can become contaminated with toxic or radioactive materials from industry. There are some water pollution solutions we as consumers and citizens can implement for example, buy organic food, stop all use of chemical pesticides around your house and yard, start buying "green" household cleaners and personal care products, drive your vehicle less, that will mean your vehicle is putting less petroleum pollution into our water and doing more citizen education on the subject of how to keep oil out of our environment.

  21. World population growth and Technological Progress

Global population growth is the change in the number of people in a population over time, and may vary by location. Technological progress is the name given to technological advances. These two factors are of great importance for the environment because in the last hundred years have increased in large numbers causing a large amount of waste harmfully affecting the environment causing many environmental disasters such as deforestation, acid rain, pollution of streams, melting at the poles, among others, all this due to the large amount of waste generated by population growth and technological progress. The rapid growth of technology and population can be avoided by prevention and recycling.

  22. Air Pollution

The air pollution is one of the most biggers problems of humanity. The people used to live in the big cities and they are the responsible of this kind of contamination. Nowadays, the people used to travel in cars and this is one of the causes of air pollution. Other cause are the big industries who release a lot of smog, helping to make more pollution. This have a lot of consequences in humans and wild live. The people who are exposed to a lot of air pollution suffer respiratory problems, like asthma and other things. In wild life the animals also suffer this kind of problems and many of them die. The scientists are working in many solutions to this problems like the use of public transportation, bicycles or electric cars to help to reduce the air pollution in the world.

  23. The Green House effect

The green house effect is a consequence of the air pollution. Cars, factories, trucks... ‘Throw” smog to the atmosphere, and that’s why the ozone layer is getting thinner every day, and the sunrises can get easily to the Earth. Nowadays the sunrises burn our skin, so, we can get skin cancer. The Earth is hotter and hotter, the poles are melting and it causes that the ocean level goes up, producing floods. Also a lot of animals are affected, because their habitats are changing... This problem involves the entire world, so we need to do something to stop this problem. Cars should use another type of energy, like electricity and solar panels; cities should make more recycling campaigns... There are a lot of things that we can do, but we should star now.

  24. The global warming is a problem which is affecting all the world. This is a problema when the temperature increase, this effect is mainly caused for the greenhouse.¿Why the green house is the main caused in this problem, this are good for the earth or not ? Easy, the natural greenhouse are good for the earth because this stabilizes the temperature, without this in the winter the temperature would fall 30 °C, whit this the oceans would freeze and the life would not exist. So this does not happen the people use the greenhouse gases in a moderate portion. What worries climate scientists is that gases in an exaggerated will produce an increase in temperature due to heat trapped in the lower atmosphere.I think this is a thing impossible to eraricate in this world...:(

  25. The acid rain is one of the big problems in our environment because this is an unusually rain that is consequence of the smoke from the factories, from a fire or a car.
The acid rain is a very important environmental problem because many of its consequences are that it increases the acidity in the forest, lakes, rivers, oceans and also provoke problems in infrastructure but the aquatic ecosystems are most affected than other ecosystems because the animals that live in oceans and lakes and rivers can´t live in acid waters so this problem cause the death of many animals.
The acid rain is very common in many countries where the population causes a lot of air pollution and in places where are many toxic emissions like China and United States. The solution about this problem is that we should try to avoid the uses of those products that cause the air pollution and also the governments should spend more money on research and development projects with the objective to reduce the environmental pollution.

  26. Greenhouse effect

This is one of the most dangerous problems caused by the human being.
Causes: The main causes of this problem is: Human Emissions, this produce some gases like carbon dioxin, methane, nitrogen oxides and fluoridated gases.
Consequences: The effects that can be less ice and snow in places like the Antartida, more extreme weather conditions, this because the ozone holl is increasing its size, so they are going to be more heatwaves, more violent rainfull and also more storms. Rising sea level, this is the cause of the melting glaciers at the poles. Some others consequences are global warming, increase of the temperature, precipitations, wind, humidity and others.
Possible solutions: Reducing the use of fossil fuels would reduce the amount of carbon dioxine, using less energy or using alternative sources. For example, you can go to work walking or in public transportation, turning off lights when you don't need them, basically, using less energy in all the thins has posible.

  27. The oil spill

The oil spill is a catastrophe that asphyxias a lot of animals that live in the sea like: fish, oysters, crabs, shrimps and some sea birds, too.
This catastrophe causes the extinction of a lot of animals and plants in the ocean. The most resent catastrophe was in the Gulf of Mexico. It killed many animals and now some of them are in danger of extinction like some fish and turtles. Some people who love nature are trying to help with this problem, however, they don’t have enough support from the government and private companies. If people work together to help the planet, we can enjoy a healthy environment

  28. Effects of industrial progress on the environment

In recent years industrial progress has come better day with day, and this progress has positive and negative consequences, in the positive we can see human development and in the negative for the environment.
One of the causes of this problem has been the technological advancement and the necessity that have the persons of products made in manufactures.
Some clear examples of this problem in the world are: Mexico D.F, Tokyo, New York and in Costa Rica San Jose.
Some consequences of the industrial progress are: water pollution, soil and air because the smog of the manufactures pollute the air, and some manufactures deposits the contamined water on the rivers, other consequence is the deforestation because nowadays manufactures cut trees to construct his buildings and all results in global warming.
A possible solution is recycle and buy things that we really need, so we can reduce this global problem.

  29. Water pollution

The water pollution is a environment problem very very seriously because the water of the rivers is getting polluted and the people can get sick.
The people use to throw the garbage in the rivers and this activity provoke the water pollution. This problem is very dangerous because the people needs this resource but don´t can drink because the water is dirty.
We can repair this problem but the world needs the all the people.
The solutions for this problem are:
    - Collect the garbage of the rivers
    - Don´t throw the residues in the rivers
    - Try to recycle all the products

  30. noise pollution

For me this is the most common pollution nowadays because is something daily.
All days we made noise and we do not care because we think that this will not hurt us but not so as it is one of the most damaging contamination there.
A very important thing is that we must be careful in the tone in which we speak because sometimes we do not realize that tough talk and then it affects us.
That's why noise pollution is very bad because we do not control.

  32. Global Warming
The global warming is when the temperature of the Earth increases or reduces irregularly. This problem is caused by the smoke of the factories, cars and pollution in general, in other words, the CO2.
The cities are the places where have the most pollution in the world, the people don´t care about the situation in the world, especially about the weather.
In a few years the people will understand this problem, but it will be too late
There is still time to change. To reduce the global warming, we can reduce the use of the vehicles, plant trees, recycle, turn off all the electronic devices that you don´t use and Use a hanger or a clothes line instead of a clothes dryer.

  33. Every day we need air to live, maybe we don´t care about it, but air is very important for our lives. Many people don’t know but, air pollution is affecting us a lot day by day.
What is air pollution? Air pollution is when chemicals, dangerous biological materials, cause damage to the atmosphere and to the natural environment.
Air pollution , affect humans and animals health in a serious way.
Air pollutants are carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, hydrocarbons, and particulate matter.
This kind of pollution is affeting us everyday, maybe we can see at all the consequences
now, but we will see it more in a few years.
Sometimes we don’t care about our planet but is important that everyone make something for the world. We can take care a little bit more because it belows to us.

  35. The water pollution is one of the biggest problems that the world has, and Costa Rica too. A lot of people put the trash in the rivers and in the oceans, and when the trash is there, a lot of animals are dying, or have some problem in their health. An example of this problem is the water of the Tarcoles River, that is too much polluted and the alligators have problems in their eyes; other animals that have problems with the polluted water are the turtle and the whales, because the plastic of the six packs stay in the water and the whales eat this and the turtle put the head inside of the plastic hole and dies. To stop this problem, we have to star to recycle and to put the trash in their place is very important because for us is a problem too.

  36. Overfishing!!
It’s caused by the excessive overfishing, nowadays this bad practice damages the marine ecosystems a lot, the fishing companies have a bad administration, they think that the marine resources are inexhaustible, what is a terrible mistake because if we have a lot of things, we have to take care and save them for the future, if we don’t worry about this problem, we aren’t going to have seafood.
Actually the most clearly evidences of this damage to the sea ecosystems are in example the extinction of the giant tuna in the Atlantic Ocean, or the different species of salmon, or the whales.
Not only the species that we eat can get damage, the uncontrolled fishing damages every type of sea animals, like in the chorals where many types of animals live, if we are going to stop this extinction, we better ask to the fishing companies or the countries to concern them about the consequences that a bad fishing or a bad administration can do in our marine environment.

  37. Water pollution:
Our earth, our planet, our environment is facing different kind of grave problems, most of them produced by pollution. One of the most important is the water pollution. This problem is about all the trash from humans, all the chemicals from factories and oil spills, which are in the oceans, seas, rivers… All this things are contaminating the water that we have to consume. Once the problems started on small rivers from small communities, but now the principal sources of water, the oceans, are polluted and they feed almost every source of water on the planet. The systems that purify the water are so expensive, not all the countries can have one, of if they have it, it´s not enough to supply the necessities of all the respective population. Consume polluted water is against our health. We everyone now, that is harmful for us, it can produce grave diseases, like infections, and others… Also it contaminates all the crops and indirectly we are consuming harmful water. Also do it the animals, who have to feed from the ground. That´s why the water pollution is so grave.
